For a new broom	26 March 2020, 5:42	I know this is an old comment, but I ran into the same issue and stalled for quite a while. For those solving this in the future: There is a point in this puzzle where as far as I can tell there is only one spot that can be marked. Look for the spot where no configuration will allow painting that square.
