The Hound Of The Baskervilles8 December 2019, 3:07Fast and fun!
Earrings7 December 2019, 11:20Not if you
start at the bottom, which is quite easy. The top bit is harder, but not so much if you know which blues are already accounted for.
I didn't need to cheat on this one!
Serious conversation6 December 2019, 22:30Not sure why this one has a 2-1/2 star difficulty rating -- I found it fell into place very nicely and easily... Another great nonogram from Yvan.
Christmas tree6 December 2019, 3:16Just scrolling past and this time it caught my eye -- it's rather plain full-sized but oh so sweet in the thumbnail. Great beginner puzzle.
Gerbera4 December 2019, 23:46I thought maybe it was a brain...
Gerbera4 December 2019, 23:45Another puzzle that looks far better in the thumbnail than in the full size. Nice!
Don Quixote3 December 2019, 2:44I've never made so many mistakes in one puzzle. I don't think it was all that hard -- it just took more care than I gave it!
Peas2 December 2019, 2:50Hard to see full size, but quite a nice thumbnail.
Hat1 December 2019, 8:59Got it right away!
Building1 December 2019, 8:51I loved the changing patterns in the rows. The only thing I didn't like is that it seems I can't count to nine... ;-) Definitely an easy one, good for beginners or for mindless moments.
Little dog1 December 2019, 3:15Brilliant puzzle! So small, yet challenging and with a very rewarding picture at the end.
Budgerigar29 November 2019, 10:20It's actually an Australian
bird.
In the US, they are usually called
parakeets.
In Canada, we shorten the name to
budgie.
Gesture29 November 2019, 10:12Nobody can complain about the colours being too close together on this one!
Bun, Bun, I'll eat you!29 November 2019, 4:33Foxy little devils in those Russian folk tales, eh?
Cockroach29 November 2019, 4:16I wish we could indicate an assessment other than "beautiful" for good puzzle pictures -- this subject is hardly beautiful! And yes, it was a challenge.
Snowman28 November 2019, 9:28Me, too.
Silver hoof28 November 2019, 6:44Here's a beautiful rendition of the tale, complete with mostly adequate English subtitles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kVTu4bo3dE
Silver hoof28 November 2019, 6:32Beautiful story. This is from the Wikipedia article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_Hoof):
"That's a very special goat. On his right forefoot he's got a silver hoof. And when he stamps with that silver hoof he leaves a gem there. If he stamps once there's one gem, if he stamps twice there are two, and if he begins to paw the ground there'll be a whole pile. ... Most of them were green ones, chrysolites, folks call them..."

"Ordinary goats have two horns, but this one's got antlers, with five tines..."

"As an amulet, the chrysolite can banish demons, strengthen spiritual resistance, give courage and protect from night terrors. After his 'conversation' with the cat, Silver Hoof gives the gemstones as a gift to Daryonka. This gift can be regarded as corporeal and spiritual at the same time, a sacred gift that is bestowed upon good people only."
Bud28 November 2019, 6:08Yes, indeed, and also the inevitable comments about the colours being too difficult to tell apart... So glad I finally got what people were saying about clicking on the number, which makes dxh's puzzles much more doable and enjoyable.
Piñata28 November 2019, 3:59Loved this puzzle! I enjoyed the bright colours, and the puzzle itself was interesting to do with a lovely picture at the end.
Rosette28 November 2019, 3:57This is a gorgeous picture. I for one am not willing to start monkeying around with the contrast and brightness of my monitor just for nonograms, but the technique of clicking on the number makes all the difference in these puzzles that have subtle shading. I really enjoyed this puzzle but wouldn't have without that option.
Cactus28 November 2019, 3:22Really pretty thumbnail! So glad I found out about clicking on the number to get the colour, because otherwise I never would have made it through the greens. Found this a little like painting by numbers, but the results are worth it. :)
Cyclist27 November 2019, 8:59I really enjoyed this one -- it just went rolling along.
Watering pot27 November 2019, 5:01Me, too!
Leaning Tower of Pisa27 November 2019, 4:52Working bottom to top, I found it really interesting how the pieces just fell into place. I really like this one, both the solving of it and the resulting picture.
Rose27 November 2019, 0:34Had a logical conundrum until I discovered there were 3 shades of red, not 2 (hadn't checked first!). Then by clicking on the numbers, it was fast and fun to do.
Floret26 November 2019, 10:58Needed a really fast, simple one to finish up before bed. Thanks.
Goldfish26 November 2019, 10:40Left click on the number in the cell at the side of the row or top of the column to select the correct colour -- I just learned this trick, and it helps a lot! Much more fun.
Goblin26 November 2019, 3:20Had a hard time getting going, and then everything just fell into place. I like that kind of a puzzle -- way more fun than an easy start and then getting stuck with the last bits!
Monkey26 November 2019, 0:39Fun puzzle! Love the picture!
Cat26 November 2019, 0:14Well said! Great puzzle for beginners and experienced puzzle solvers alike.
Princess26 November 2019, 0:00Indeed! Makes no sense whatsoever full size, but delightful thumbnail. :)
Qbert25 November 2019, 2:49Yes, the colours were pretty close together, but I for one didn't find it a problem and really enjoyed this puzzle... as well as the result. And if you don't recognize the characters in these puzzles, why not just look them up! From Wikipedia:
Q*bert is an arcade game developed and published for the North American market by Gottlieb in 1982. It is a 2D action game with puzzle elements that uses isometric graphics to create a pseudo-3D effect.
I don't feel like figuring out how to copy an image into the comments and will leave that for somebody else to do. Or you can just google it...
Ring24 November 2019, 23:16Blues were easy. Yellows, not so much. I completed this easily but with "educated" guesses, mainly
the way 2's tend to zig zag in these puzzles.
Whirligig24 November 2019, 5:24I thought it was a
flying saucer.
Church23 November 2019, 9:12Me, too.
Tooth23 November 2019, 8:51That was unexpected!
Flower23 November 2019, 4:51This puzzle didn't disappoint. Lovely colours, as usual, and an interesting puzzle to solve.
Spelunky22 November 2019, 22:23I think this guy is really cute, and I rather enjoyed this puzzle despite my struggle with the similarity of the browns on my computer. My trick is to use the Check the crossword button as I go to make sure I've got the right colour if I'm uncertain.
Waltz22 November 2019, 6:27Agreed!
Sitting Moogle21 November 2019, 10:01You have to a) know what it is
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8f8dK1m_3v8
and b) check it out in the thumbnail in order to see that this is actually quite a good picture.
Seashell21 November 2019, 2:25So pretty in the thumbnail. Nice series!
Seashell21 November 2019, 2:24And if you want to check to make sure you've got the right spot, you can use the Check Crossword button. I use it when I'm really stuck.
Transfer of secret information21 November 2019, 2:17Ditto! So clever.
Hockey player from the cartoon "Shaybu! Shaybu!"21 November 2019, 2:10
Yes, I was confused because I was trying to see a player with a stick, but it's just the face.
Good puzzle!Love these Russian cartoons.
In gadgets21 November 2019, 1:54... of yec72's comment, that is.
In gadgets21 November 2019, 1:54The translation I found is a bit more literal. :)
In gadgets21 November 2019, 1:53His comment translates as
people with mobile phones
.
In gadgets21 November 2019, 1:52Ha ha! Try cutting and pasting yec72's comment into a Google search, and the image and title will become clear! Very well done!
A kitten named Woof19 November 2019, 0:37Such an education I'm getting from doing these nonograms! The things I've missed here on the other side of the world... This is wonderful, Ivan!
