| Chinese | 18 July 2020, 2:46 | I get that not everyone sees this as a stereotype, but I still don't think that this puzzle should be on this site. this is mostly because almost everyone who starts playing has no idea what the end result will be. In my eyes, one of the reason that there is an option to hide content rated 18+ is to give people an option to opt out of content that would make them uncomfortable or they don't feel is appropriate. yet there is no similar option for puzzles like this that can make people uncomfortable or even insulted. i also think that there are valid reasons to feel uncomfortable. stereotypes like these have been used to oppress and alienate people for generations so i think it is reasonable to be uncomfortable when those stereotypes appear even when an author didn't intend to bring in all of the context.(ex. "The Yellow Peril is a color-metaphor that East Asians are an existential danger and threat to the Western world." source: wikipedia) |
