Fyodor 's father23 October 2021, 18:29Weird! I thought the figure was looking left the whole time against a black background. So I thought I was looking at some kind of dragon... then the solve came, and the image flipped! I immediately saw what I was supposed to.
Bell11 October 2021, 4:53Thought it was a leg of ham
Crown of the Russian Empire9 October 2021, 3:57You don't need to abuse the symmetricality to solve this. Ordinary strategies work just fine. Count out the rows and columns, see which spaces are necessarily black or white, and work through.
Helicopter8 October 2021, 3:06The haters have no taste. Recognized it instantly and delighted by the blades. Solved the bottom half first and thought it was a plane, realized my mistake when I placed the dots. Great stuff. A little easy.

Birdie30 August 2021, 15:50I totally see it. If that's intentional, this is genius.
Gun25 August 2021, 20:29No one is complaining that nonograms are causing violence. The problem is this: Most nonograms are peaceful, quiet, relaxing, and sweet, and it's jarring to solve ten nonograms of animals and teapots and then suddenly see a glock. Violence is not the right "vibe" for a nonogram. I play these for a quick stress break - I don't want to think about guns.
Gun25 August 2021, 20:25Please explain how I'm supposed to know whether I'm making a gun puzzle before I start it...
Elephant25 August 2021, 3:38The common cliche about a small puzzle is to say that it "does a lot with little space." This entry earns that praise so thoroughly that the phrase ought never again be applied to anything falling short of the standard set here. The elephant is adorable thanks to its "baby" head-to-body ratio, something very difficult to achieve at this resolution without sacrificing fidelity. The ear and legs gives the piece a subtle but undeniable three-dimensionality, turning the elephant's sideways profile ever so slightly toward the viewer. This masterful effect in turn puts us into relation with the elephant: this is not a schematic, like so many other puzzles, but an encounter.
Man with a tray22 August 2021, 20:37He's got quite the booty on him.

Dressing table22 August 2021, 18:01As a fellow own-voice enjoyer, I have to thank you for giving me the idea to write nonogram reviews. :P
Dressing table22 August 2021, 5:11The dressing table itself suggests its depth masterfully, and is reminiscent of the friendly graphics of old school video games. The figure, on the other hand, is muddled by an unnatural sitting position, which in turn makes her chair less coherent and detaches her from the mirror she is supposed to be looking into. She's recognizably female, but that's about all there is to say for her. We get greatness from the left but mediocrity from the right.

The subject matter is unique but nevertheless strikes what is my favorite tone for a nonogram - that of quietly simple humanity. With a more coherent human figure, it could have been strongly evocative of those intimately anxious moments of self-inspection before an important social event. Unfortunately, our figure communicates nothing about herself.

The solution is straightforward but not tedious. A satisfying completion for me in 8:30.
