Scissors and comb8 April 2022, 0:34Now I have so many questions! My reasons were different, but for the first 55 years of my life I avoided them too. Which means both of us have needed to deal with the consequences somehow. Would love to know what you do instead.

Claddagh Ring27 February 2022, 0:45Ah, but the colours are perfect to make us expect something quite, quite different, and more dangerous. If Mindscrub hadn't given themself away by their emphatic response, we could have thought it was a deliberate strategy!
Croissant20 February 2022, 6:52I thought it might be Uluru. Rather a different scale!
Ostrich Rhea17 February 2022, 2:06Sorry, I tried to make that hidden. And it was meant to be a ? Not a .

Roadside11 February 2022, 1:03The problem in Australia is that you can’t tell be looking! Unless it is an exotic (which many of you would know as your local ones) which are common in cities and towns precisely because our locals can be dangerous, in this and other ways.

It took some thinking to explain without mentioning certain words!
Glasses11 February 2022, 0:55I started at the top, and halfway through I thought it might be a possum, holding on to a power line by its tail.
Then I thought it might be some washing hanging on a washing line.
Roadside4 February 2022, 3:44A really nice little picture. In Australia though, this might not be such a good idea! If you or someone you love is travelling to Australia, please check the safety advice on this page https://www.parks.vic.gov.au/where-to-stay/camping
I know Australia has a reputation overseas for our dangerous animals. The fact that this safety note doesn't mention snakes etc at all shows how serious the risk is.
Hard worker12 January 2022, 2:04A good one!
Knocker-Upper11 December 2021, 12:39it's all explained above.

If you’re not already a professional writer, and have wondered whether you could be, I for one would be happy to find nicely crafted pieces like this in a magazine or newspaper.

Ishihara Color Blindness Test9 June 2021, 13:25I laughed out loud when I finished it and saw the title. We have a beautiful old set of these at my work (I'm a GP - family physician. I've mostly used these for pre-employment medical checks. Not sure about the other doctors)
One of my favourite things is this "Hidden digit design: Only colorblind people are able to spot the sign. If you have perfect color vision, you won’t be able to see it."

Checking the school diary1 October 2020, 6:20I agree that the man is probably not hitting, just gesticulating. I don't think the picture shows an ideal way to get a child to do well. Maybe the artist is remembering a scene from their childhood. Hopefully they are not advocating for making kids cry. It isn't usually very helpful in the long run. Maybe we can get that man a copy of my favourite parenting book How to talk so kids will listen and listen so kids will talk.

Children's trampoline3 September 2020, 7:48There's a word map for Australia showing words that are different in different regions. It's amazing how many there are, when there is only one dominant language, and only 25 million people. If you search "togs" on the word map you'll see how many different words are used for the things you wear for swimming. A lot of us only know one of these terms, and would be totally bamboozled if someone (maybe a visitor from interstate) used a different one.

Children's trampoline3 September 2020, 7:38I love the sharing of different words for the same thing :D
In Australia, in my part at least (Melbourne) it's often called a jumping castle. How would we discover these things if it were not for this community of nonogram solvers?
