Pufferfish6 December 2022, 15:35In the UK we have what are called fish and chip shops. They sell fried, battered fish fillets (usually haddock and cod but never pufferfish), chips and mushy peas. When I was a lad they were always fried in beef dripping & then wrapped up in sheets of old newspapers to be taken home or eaten on the way home. The shops are called things like Heptonstall Fish Shop, Eric's fish & chips, even Mr Cod & Mrs Haddock!
Not 100 yards from my house was a fish and chip shop run by a couple of Chinese descent who called their shop "Puffies" and had a picture of a pufferfish on the shop frontage. To this day I know not why!
