I made use of hints on some of Tverianka's most challenging small puzzles to master the rules that make the puzzles soluble--looking at the answer and then looking at the "Methods for Solving" to see what I missed--then clearing the puzzle and doing it over and over until I understood.

A word about whether or not to use x's: I love *using* automatic x's because I don't enjoy "counting" and want to get to the logic challenges, but if you enjoy the challenge of *not using* x's, go for it!
