Japanese crossword «The fire»

The image is okay but I found it VERY difficult. Also, I'm unsure about what appears to be a letter in the upper left hand corner.

Difficult and interesting.
I think K is a letter in the Cyrillic (Russian) alphabet, but its relationship to fire eludes me.

post script. The Russian translation for "Camp Fire" is костер*

Picture was a little underwhelming, but I like the detail... For everyone asking, I think the "K" is the artist's watermark, because his username starts with a K.
