It's an interesting image, but it could've benefited from defining the eyes as more wide than tall, in order to convey the original subject. This looks a bit like the eye area has been squirted with paint thinner while it's standing upright.

I read the comments the author posted. Even with the description, reference image, and squinty eyes, it's difficult to make out. But it was a fun puzzle nonetheless
