brilliant
And here in the UK (where it was played before America) it is called football ... not all Grids solvers are based in the US, Hamflaps!
Yup, football is an oval ball for Americans (even Canada) compared to the rest, for which it's a round ball
This is a fantastic little picture, full of action!

Well done!
I think the football/soccer thing has to be one of the more obnoxious arguments by my fellow U.S. citizens. Leave it up to us, to try and take the word football away from a game that is played almost entirely with the feet, and give it to game where it's almost entirely played with the hands. SMH

In UK a game played with an oval ball - is called rugby. Good picture

You can tell this is American football because his back leg has been broken after sustaining a hard hit. The ball is actually oval, but the rest is just out of the picture.
Thanks Hamflaps. Now I know that in America you speak American, you don't add the s to the third person singular in the simple present and you go to school only to play soccer. Illuminating :)
Fun puzzle! Packed a lot into a small space. As to Am Football vs Football-Soccer, American English got the word "soccer" from British slang, so it's our cousins' fault. :P Am Football is called just "football" here bc we're already in America; it's redundant for us. "Soccer" is actually Association Football ("soccer", which I guess should be pronounced "sosh'er"), distinguishing it from Rugby Football. And there ya go - all football despite the length of time a foot is in contact with a ball. #allsportsareequallystupid
I love the minimalist picture and the insane conversation! hahaha! ;)
Americans on an international site. It's not pretty. <------American.
Really clever for such a small picture. Also, I've never seen such a lively comment section on this site! Special thanks to FelHarbor for cool facts I didn't know before.
Great picture. Very dynamic
Great sense of motion in the little figure.
