Funny thing is he pecks on the vinyl siding of our house. Other strange fact, cactus have all kinds of holes in them put there by the same source.

They peck to get bugs but the males also peck to attract females, I think. I assume your siding has no bugs, but it makes plenty of noise to summon the ladies.
