Nice dodge. You'd have taken a lot of flak if it had been a real gun (and yes, I'm talking only about what happens in this comments section).

I meant that if you had labeled the picture to indicate that it was a real gun, people would have complained because guns are such a problem these days (especially in the USA). "You would have taken a lot flak" is an expression that means you you would have received a lot of criticism; but the literal meaning of "flak" is from World War II - it means anti-aircraft explosives, so i was clarifying that you would have received criticism, not bombs. And "nice dodge" means that you were agile in dodging the criticism.

Your people are used to complicating things! I couldn't even imagine that an innocent picture could offend anyone. :-)

"Nice dodge" means good moving away (from the paint ball strikes). "You'd have taken a lot of flak" means you would have received difficult, argumentative comments, or, as in flak = hits, from the paint ball strikes.
People are especially paranoid right now about gun comments. It is a shame, because there seems to be a "politically correct" opinion about how to view guns, that's not really an opinion. It's whatever the current acceptable political leaders and louder groups say, not necessarily the majority of people, just the most vocal and covered in the news.
Great picture, by the way!
