Lovely picture when completed. But took a lot of guessing to get started. Since their was so much white space.

On the contrary, absolutely no guessing required. You simply need to establish where the 12 in row 40 goes. This can be achieved using 2D logic to determine where it can't possibly go. The whole puzzle flows from there on. This is a very useful trick. Look out for high numbers around the edges. Imagine "If it was here would it create a contradiction", if so, you can then blank out those spaces.
