No, stuff they do at thanksgiving. I expect nonoturkeys and will suffer in silence.

No, just not a big fan of turkey meat. But I always wonder at the way Americans love being told what to do. On October 31 thou shalt dress in a weird costume, stick a candle in a pumpkin and watch horror movies. 3 weeks later thou shalt eat turkey and tell your host it was delicious. A month later thou shalt be merry and tell everyone else to be merry too. Not obeying any of those will be considered heresy and rebellion against your neighbourhood Wall Mart. Please don't take me too seriously :)

At least we have the sense to carve pumpkins, not turnips.

Our family does not like turkey, either. We have roast beef & Yorkshire pudding or baked ham.

Honestly, I pity countries that don't do Halloween. As an adult participation is extremely voluntary, you can just turn off your porch light to deter trick-or-treaters and ignore the festivities, and plenty of areas don't even get many kids because they gravitate towards the neighborhoods with the best offerings. If you're not into parties or scary movies, you can just treat it like any other night.
However, I adore Halloween, we get a bunch of candy, I wear a scary costume, and I terrify some children (and sometimes their parents too). My less scary friends give out candy to those who are too young/frightened. Plus the playfully spooky fun vibe of the holiday is just delightful, and unlike other holidays I don't have to shop for presents or prepare an extravagant meal, I get to just enjoy it.
And of course, for a child there's nothing like being able to dress up as anything you want and then go around collecting candy, there's no beating that. In case it wasn't obvious, it's my favorite holiday.

Like the expression. Hate turkey. Agree with the irony of Nikki3851's statement. I'd rather skip Halloween altogether. Let's make Thanksgiving on Oct. 31 & have a span of time before Christmas. Eh?

Come on, folks! Different nations have different cultures! In my country we don't celebrate Halloween nor Thanksgiving, but we must respect those who do and understand why they do it. For us, Labour Day is May 1st, Mother's Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of May and so on. Each nation has its traditions and that's just fine! Can you imagine how boring this world would be if we were all alike?... Oh, and great puzzle, by the way!

joining the holiday talk, as an American, I enjoy the Halloween/Dia de los Muertos traditions, and detest Thanksgiving--It is (yet another) American holiday built on lies and stereotypes. I could do an entire diatribe, but... It is also at my least favorite time of year. I wish we had it in Oct like the Canadians-a much more sensible time. I also enjoy Christmas, though not for religious reasons--just love the trees and the Solstice solemnity. As for all the adverts and junk sold, WELL!! yuck!
