But we had Easy Bake Ovens, which was pretty much the greatest thing in the world until grownups figured out that giving little kids toy ovens hot enough to bake cookies was maybe not the most responsible move.

It was the grownups who thought this. We kids, on the other hand, felt that a burn was a fair exchange for making our very own partly-raw cookies with a light bulb that quite possibly might melt the oven.

Easy Bake Oven was the best! We also had Creepy Crawlers, another dangerous toy where we melted gooey stuff until it turned rubbery to make worms, bugs, etc.
