Always found the whole 'boob tube' thing incredibly ironic. The marked acceleration of human intelligence and the first glimpses of the information age all trace back to the early 1900s - which means the generations who grew up with telephone, radio and television. That's when our global understanding levels started to skyrocket. History indicates that every invention which makes it easier to share ideas with people outside of your immediate proximity makes for fewer boobs in our society. :)

In the UK a boob tube is something very different! It is a a self supporting, elasticated garment worn by women from the armpit to the navel. It is not an under garment - but worn (without a bra) to show off the body - usually on a night out to a club.

In the US we call it a tube top, but boob tube describes it very well.
