It occurred to me after I posted that you might not have the expression "climbing the walls" in Russia. It basically means going crazy. :)

есть выражение "лезть на стену" это имеет переносное значение и употребляется в случае крайнего раздражения, исступления, потери контроля над собой.. и есть выражение "биться головой о стену" это имеет переносное значение безуспешные и мучительные попытки решить какую-либо проблему, напоминающую непреодолимое препятствие.
