In my opinion, the difficulty needs to be toned down. Most of the large crosswords are no longer solvable purely by logical placements but by lots of probability trial and error, which, if only on some squares, then alright, it keeps the challenges there. But if there are too many of them, not sure if the puzzles are still enjoyable to be solved. For me, solving the puzzle is considered a casual thing to do. Challenges here and there are welcome, but doesn't have to be extremely difficult.

You can solve this with logic alone and no guesses, but it is at the difficult end.

Agree - It was EXTREMELY difficult but no guessing is required. (I believe the system won't even accept a puzzle that can't be solved by logic alone.) This one took me days, and I'm very pleased with myself for doing it without hints!

Fully agree! Having to guess too frequently kills the purpose of a puzzle, which is to use logic to solve it.

It boggles my mind when people complain about the difficulty of puzzles. Every puzzle is possible to solve with logic alone. Period. If you have to guess, then you are doing something wrong or just aren't up for the challenge. That's fine, but don't gripe about it. Some of us are here BECAUSE the puzzles are challenging.
