I'm Dutch, in my language the word for the zodiac sign cancer is "Kreeft", When I would translate "Kreeft" to English it would in fact be lobster. So my guess is that cancer is just a synonym of lobster, or that something may have gone wrong in translating.

In traditional horoscopes, the crab for Cancer usually looks like a lobster. So as I was finishing the puzzle I was asking myself whether it was going to be a lobster or Cancer.

I don't know if it was just me.. but close to the end, I had immense difficulties and needed a hint (one of the first times ever) and even then, it just gave me an X and I had to look for the next clue again. Nice picture though, although I agree it's more likely a lobster.

It definitely wasn't just you. I got nearish the end and had to put in a few X's to reveal just one more move and then it was fine again.

Same! I've found there's a pattern that I usually don't see with a "1" and "2" sometimes, where I have to switch the way I'm thinking about the puzzle. Hard to explain but to me it's like a floating X that doesn't look right but if you manually try penciling in the possibilities it works. I don't usually use that "technique" while solving and find when I'm stuck it's usually a because of this strange interaction between a "1" and "2".

Oh look, another language lesson!
In English "cancer" is a word for a type of illness and a crab.
In some other languages - here notably Russian - the word (here - "rak") refers to the same illness, but it's associated with lobsters and/or crayfish.
And as a bonus - as for which animal the horoscopes will use - that actually is completely regional, tied to the local language.

As a native speaker of English for over 70 years, I have never heard or read anyone using "cancer" for crab--unless in the context of the Zodiac.

I find it interesting that the Romans knew of the crab disease and the wolf disease (cancer and lupus), but I don't know of any other "animal" diseases. Anyone?
