It's definitely not a straightforward counting-only puzzle. Takes some looking ahead and "if this, then that" sort of solving techniques. Give yourself more credit, teoheel - it's a well-crafted puzzle with some challenge to it :)

Unlike some others here, I found this very straightforward, and there were times I worried that I might have made some mistakes because it went SOOO smoothly!
replyReassuring to read that I’m not alone in finding this puzzle challenging - managed it without xs (provided the mental one don’t count). Further staring at it trying to figure out the next move is great for inducing one back to sleep - bonus! :):)

I thought the "head" on the right was riding the rat, rather than being its tail. Made the puzzle more intriguing... Anyone see the Nutcracker?
