Sometimes "stupid" and "dumb" are used as synonyms. But the term "dumb" can simply mean unable to communicate in an intelligible language. Hence the term "dumb animals". I suspect that is the meaning of the title here. A pig is a dumb (stupid) animal in that it has no intelligible language.

So far they look like they escaped the butcher, so maybe not so dumb afterall.
replyHmmm one wonders how the assessment of the subject’s intellect was determined - recognition?

mr-yao, welcome to our crazy crowd! This swine was adorable. You got the ears & snout just right. And considering some people keep them as pets, and that they rate a higher I.Q. than dogs, I'd say it is a pretty smart pig.
