Less of the "old" TNG - I'm only 32!
As it happens I do know:
A gopnik is a member of a lower-class, delinquent urban subculture in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and other former Soviet states. Emerging from working-class communities and flourishing in the 1990s, the stereotype typically depicts unemployed or working-class young men who hang out in courtyards, drink cheap beer and vodka and commit petty crimes.
Their uniform is notoriously defined by a full tracksuit (often three-stripe Adidas), flat caps, and pointed dress shoes or chunky sneakers (very similar to what Yorkshiremen wear).
Gopniks are famous for resting in a deep, heels-on-the-ground squat (known as na kortach), a posture historically adopted to avoid dirtying clothes on cold or wet surfaces while hanging outdoors (Yorkshiremen do this a lot).

We have a differentethnic slur here that I can't remember and AI won't help me with.

You've lost me here TNG - pray, what are to trying to say using those words?
replyshow: 3 🗨
I just meant that the young people here in the US had a different word they used for this group of people that is probably an ethnic slur. I couldn't remember the term. I asked AI. AI told me pretty much you have come to the wrong place for things like that. :D

Thanks - I get it now but cannot help you any more than AI did)
replyThe most common term for gopniks in America is "slav" which is just the umbrella term for the ethno group of most of Eastern europe. Fun fact about the word slave in english is that it comes from slav as so many slavic people were captured and forced into slavery during the middle ages- not sure if that's the word you were looking for though

Hey TNG...I wonder at his tender years he knows so much about what old Yorkshiremen do!
Me thinks he lies.

At no point Chorton, at no point in my comments above did I mention both "old" and "Yorkshiremen" in the same sentence!
It seems that these days I can identify as a cardboard box if I choose to.
Given that, my choice to identify as a 32 year old Yorkshireman is totally legitimate, and I demand to be housed in a women's prison!

I give up. Forget the Whatevernik. May I have subtitles for Yorkshiremen?

The story so far...
I demanded above to be housed (put) in a women's prison.
These days people seem to be able to identify as whatever they want - hence "my choice to identify as a 32 year old Yorkshireman".
This was in an attempt to deny my old age to Chorton.
In reality I am a 71 year old Yorkshireman.
A chap who raped a woman in England was arrested & then claimed to identify as a woman. He demanded to be housed in a women's prison (I think he was for a while before being transferred to a man's prison).
Chorton above (who is a woman from England but lives in Australia) could legitimately be held it a women's prison if found guilty of a crime and offered to meet me there (prison).
When I asked "what are you in for?" - I was asking what crime would she have committed to have been incarcerated?
Hope that helps?
