As a 69 year old in MA, we practiced hiding under our desks or against the wall of the gym that had no windows. I didn't have nightmares, it was something we did. I mentioned it to my TX cousin and he said they practiced tornado drills. We pointed our nukes towards them because theirs were pointed towards us. It wasn't a one sided thing.

74 year old Australian here - believe me we had nightmares too - the ‘cold war’ was constantly on our minds - and we not only feared the Soviets….the Americans were a concern as well - effectively nothing has changed - today we have Putin and Trump - PLUS as few other nut cases. However - if we want to go down a serious path on this entertainment site .. then the only ones really worth of empathy are the Japanese - they got a taste up close and personal.
