I find symmetrical puzzles very relaxing. I find the color that is the same shade as the empty square makes the puzzle not as relaxing. Thanks for sharing!
I wish you could change the background on this website to make puzzles like this easier to see. It should be a simple puzzle with a really clever picture--I didn't guess what it was until I read the title, and then it blew my mind! But the squares the same color as the background were so hard to handle!
No. No no. I am not as kind as T-Rex and GraceS. lol I agree that it is a very clever picture, but the color choice is atrocious. There is absolutely no need for this to use a grey so light it's basically white. I spent half my time accidentally erasing squares I'd already filled, squinting so hard I'm getting a headache. Perhaps if the background had been a different color, the top could've been done with use of white/negative space. But given the object in the image, some other color could have been used. I don't mind symmetrical puzzles, but this one was also tedious to complete, with all of the color changes and one-off squares. Coupled with the terrible choice in white-grey, it's almost un-doable. Shame because the image is pretty neat. Awareness of what the image will look like on this site would have helped a lot.
Symmetrical puzzles are my favorite. Perhaps my monitor color is off, because the pale gray vs white was doable. Based on the comments, I started with the red, then solved clockwise for the edge. Then worked down through the middle. Proceeding in that way made the pale gray less important. I basically did the other colors first and filled in the pale gray.

Cool picture! The lightest gray was very hard to tell apart from white, though.
Unlike the comments above I am not keen on symmetrical puzzles. But that apart it is certainly an original pic.
