Very difficult to start, but once you get going it's okay.
replyNot much of an image, but definitely a challenging puzzle! If it helps at all, the key line for me was Row 8 - pay attention to where the peach-ish colored squares end. With that and a few countable rows, there was enough to get going. Nice challenge!

What's up with the doubles lately? One balck-and-while, one coloured, apart from that both are identical

I suspect it is for the convenience of the author. Creating a black-and-white is easier than a color version and will give the author practice and a template to follow in creating a color version. In this case, and the others you have noticed, the author has chosen to share the earlier version rather than just use it in his creation process.
replyNice puzzle to solve. Quite tricky but completely logical. Interesting image ~ I enjoyed watching it form. well done!
replyA tricky one indeed, but once started so much fun and a nice picture as a result. Well done!
replyspoiler
The tricky part to this puzzle is figuring out where certain colors cannot belong and then using that info to determine where the other segments in each row or column must be.
