That is so cute!

Too many shades of brown, and the end result doesn't benefit much from the extra shades either.

I think the colors were fine. It made the puzzle a bit more challenging that most other small puzzles.

This was difficult to work without guessing about the shades of brown.

I had absolutely no issue with the browns -- they look like mahogany, caramel, grey, and peach to me. But a bunch of other puzzles have what seem to me to be almost identical shades of red, which in most cases no one else has mentioned, so I assume it's my settings. I've also tried different browsers, which makes a difference on some puzzles but not others. It's interesting, if frustrating! :)

I thought it was a weasel or otter of some sort, but they're not that distantly related - all in the doggish division of the Carnivoran family. And I guess a weasel would have smaller eyes.
