This is the second time I've seen this 'Pepe' crap posted here. Gross. What's next? Swastikas?

You don't like it, that's ok, you don't have to :) But don't be so rude, there's no need :)

To me, the "crap" and "swastikas" remarks are rude.
I didn't know though that this character had been related to Trump and his campaign, and that it's mostly used now as a racist symbol. So now, at least, I understand why you said that and why the picture can be offensive to people.
But also I think that we must remember that in the first place, the character wasn't connoted and it would be fair to the author to give its positiveness back one day. Some people liked the character before all the malevolent use. I think that's just sad :s

The creator of Pepe (Matt Furie) has officially said that it's too late to try to rehabilitate the symbol, and that all he can do now is to try and stop people from using it. He has been using his legal rights to try and take it down as much as possible. Yes it's sad that this happened, but there's nothing we can do about it now but push back against its use.
The whole reason neo-nazis use a previously positive symbol is that it gives them plausible deniability. Please don't let them fool you.

Sorry, not sorry. "Crap" was the mildest word I could think of, and I thought of many.
The way Pepe is being used is very, very close to the swastika, so not gonna apologize for that one either.
If the author didn't know how that character is being used, they must be living in total isolation. I sincerely doubt the author didn't know about it.
It is sad. But it's the world we're living in right now. I'm saddest for the guy who created it, then watched it be turned into a hate symbol.

I had to laugh that you are so offended by a silly symbol that has no basis in reality. The swastika was a real symbol with real pain and suffering behind it. This pepe symbol is nothing more than a meme that the leftist globalists love to use to try to irritate the right wing. That's it...nothing more.

'leftist globalists'. I had to laugh at your 'alt right' sloganeering. There's no support in any branch of left-wing political thought for globalisation. Globalisation is a facet of 'neoliberalism'- a right-wing economic dogma developed by the 'Chicago school' of economists to counter 'Cambridge school' economic theory. I understand why people get confused though. The Democrats in the US still claim to be left wing, despite being to the right of the British Conservative Party on many issues! To be clear though, the Democrats are not in any way a left wing party as they currently stand (although Bernie or Andrew Yang might shake that up hopefully).
replySo I guess that means I leave in total isolation too because I didn't known either before I read your comment, haha XD

Getting tricked into making a picture of a racist meme feels bad man.
replyI don't see the point of creating a puzzle of an image that can be considered a hate symbol. I can only imagine it was to provoke, but it just feels childish.
replyshow: 2 🗨
hate? how's that? Trump hasn't killed millions of innocents...hmmm...but the left wing has. *cough* abortion *cough*

The image was a bit crap and very easy to complete, but what am I missing here? It's just a picture of a frog! Comparing it to a swastika seems like a bit of an insult to those who suffered and died under the Nazis. This is just a sort of 4chan troll image at worst. Not an 18+ and not really offensive.
replyshow: 5 🗨
The point is that people who explicitly think that the Nazi regime was a good idea have adopted Pepe as a coded symbol. They're changed from trolling (posting something offensive to get a reaction, while not caring about the content of the offensive material) to actually endorsing the offensive message - that racism, homophobia and sexism are natural and just, and that the best way to put people in "their place" is fascism, authoritarianism and violence. Please don't give them the benefit of the doubt or plausible deniability - the best way to honour those who suffered and died under the Nazis is to push back against the people who want it to happen again.

The only people killing off millions are the left wing, Sneffy...abortion is real. This symbol of pepe is laughable.

Thanks man, although I suspect you and I might not sit in the same place politically! I'm a lefty socialist Brit!!! It goes to show though that we can always find some middle ground to agree on. All the best to you. Peace.
replyHi everyone, I have talked to frostbyte (the author) and he didn't realise the image had another meaning. The only people to blame here are the people who distorted the original meaning.
replyPolitics everywhere! I suppose it's a good thing to get people talking. Poor Frostbyte though, it was just an innocent mistake!
replyI guess I'm out of the loop. I don't get why Pepe is 18+
replyNot going to bother finishing this one. I can already tell what it is.
I don't support it, and I don't like it.
I feel some sympathy for the author because s/he didn't know, but I hope s/he will do better in the future.

Yet another stupid use of 18+. Pepe is as readily available as most any meme. Why give it power? Get over it and leave it be. It’s like the okay hand, by giving it press the idiots are empowered.
replyLeaving the politics behind and chuckling at that name ... Jimbob Oval Socks. hahaha
