I couldn't figure out what it is until I read the the thumbnail. Now I see it. Nice picture and not hard even if you do it after colours (is it right as I spelled it, I'm German?)

Not if you are an American. In American English it is spelled (not spelt, the wheat) Colors.

Must be Farbe in that case. And Paint is also Farbe. That's how complicated languages are, and the Americans make it even worse.

I'm not saying you're wrong about us, but the idea at the time most of the changes were made was to make things simpler. Take the U out of colour, as it doesn't contribute any sound. Change the irregular past tense of spell to the standard formation (add -ed, not drop-an-L-and-add-a-T). I don't know why they changed that only for some verbs--we still have slept, but I see kneeled and dreamed increasingly often.

brumeux77 -- I just saw your reply to nono-nono
I love languages, and I no longer view color or colour as "wrong." I lived out of my country for so many years that I no longer think about which spelling to use, and I tend spell some the British way and some the American way:
theatre rather than theater; recognize rather than recognise, etc.

When I was in the (US) Navy, I worked briefly for a (Royal) Navy officer. One day I was typing a letter in which he'd mentioned both Pearl Harbor and Pearl Harbour. I went to him and said, "I can spell American and I can spell English, but I think you should be consistent." He looked all flustered and asked me who he was writing to. I can't remember now (it's been 50 years) whether it was USN or RN, but he just told me to make the spelling appropriate to the recipient.
replyWell the actual reason for the change was because of newspaper printing. Extra letters so "colour" cost ore than "color"
replynono-nono, the Americans have actually simplified the English language -- here's one you have to blame on the British! lol!

Whether the weather be cool,
Or whether the weather be hot,
We'll weather the weather,
WHATEVER the weather,
whether we like it or not!
