This is my first puzzle, and I was hoping for a difficulty around 3-4, and if I could get tips on how to hit that difficulty better would be great.

Good job! Fun addition :). My experience (mostly with solving puzzles, started making them myself only recently) is that more white spaces in between increase difficulty. In this case, as soon as I had the outline, I could just start colouring in. Which makes for a fun, relaxing puzzle, but not a very difficult one.
