It's most definitely a cannon - always fun to identify the image before reading the title or the comments...it's a cannon - the colours are true for Vietnam war veterans...between the LSD and Agent Orange of the era...probably that's the way some vets saw the cannons.

I thought perhaps it was a water gun. It doesn't look like a "ye olden days" cannon, but perhaps something from a more modern war? Looks perhaps like a gatling gun? I know the colors were limited back when this was created, but it would've been a little more fun to work on if the colors weren't so hard to look at. XD
