So sweet! Cheburashka (Russian: Чебура́шка) is a character in a 1966 children’s story by Soviet writer Eduard Uspensky. Cheburashka, a one-of-a-kind animal with large monkey-like ears and a cub-like body, lives in a tropical forest. He gets into a crate of oranges, eats his fill, and falls asleep. The crate is delivered to a grocery store in Russia. The store manager sets the creature on the table. He tumbles off (cheburakhnulsya="tumble"). The store manager names him "Cheburashka." He is a beloved character (and children's toy) in Russian culture. A YouTube video version of the original story can be found here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=sICgWJ46_4E
