Actually Val, the magician was framed. The girl and the props guy were a married couple. The romance between the magician and the girl was just part of the act, until one night the prop guy caught them making a little magic after the show. He rigged the trick to fail, getting his revenge on both of them.

So much tragedy in these comments. It makes her blue.
