It's Gudetama - a japanese character who is an anthropomorphised egg. So it is both. there is cartoons with this character as well as merchandise.

So you can see this as a fried egg with bacon on top, or you can see this as a guy passed out on the ground in a puddle with a blanket on him, because he did too many drugs and got "fried" that way...
