So at first I thought this was a meting man with a hat, but now I think it is a pair of legs in a short skirt. I don't know what the title means, though, so if anyone could fill me in I would appreciate it!

It looks like the legs of a young woman going upstairs away from the artist. Perhaps she decided he was not the man for her.
