Or you could do him the courtesy of allowing him to reply in whatever way suits him best. Perhaps he prefers simplicity. Maybe his English isn't that great. Possibly he has a crappy keyboard. But regardless, he doesn't you a more verbose response, nor does he owe any explanation for how he does choose to respond.
This little campaign is equivalent to trying to pester someone to smile or laugh because it you feel like it, without the slightest consideration for the other persons feelings or how they choose to express them, or consideration for the fact that they might actually be very unhappy at that moment and don't want to have to fake jovial to appease you.

It's not that his reply was simplistic. It's that it's the exact same reply he's used for years. Not really sure where you're getting all this stuff about a campaign, but I really don't think John was intending anything derogatory to Jose. It was just a joke, and not a malicious one. Chill.
