I'm thinking mindscrub is taking that into account since many of us like that kind of challenge.
replyQuestion for those of you who do "without Xs"... do you turn off the auto fill for Xs and don't fill in and of your own? Or do you leave on the auto fill and?

That's usually how I do it. I turn off auto everything (incorrect squares, filled in rows, crossed out completed numbers) and don't place any Xs. I cross out completed numbers on my own. I do use the "Check the crossword" button often, but I don't use it to cheat by checking wild guesses. If I find that I'm not making any progress after staring at it for a while, I'll start placing Xs.
