I wasn't sure I'd be able to solve this one, but I always found one more thing I could do. It took me exactly twice the average time, but it was worth it. Thanks for the lovely picture and the challenge.

Beautiful picture! I was just reading something my mother wrote, from her childhood in the 1920s, about playing with the fluffy yellow babies and then getting attacked by their father, one of these! She was so scared she didn't fight back or move. Her big brother rescued her and her parents cleaned her up and gave her a shiny new penny for each of her 6 bleeding wounds on her face. She was delighted with the attention and love - and the pennies.

I broke down and used Xs, so solving this wouldn't take all day, did it in 26 minutes.
